Our Story
Community, consistency, and coffee. These were the three words that stood out to us as we purchased the cafe a few years ago. And as we developed and named this newsletter, I was drawn to these three words again.
Coffee. Itβs a global commodity now. Often interpreted as its own unique language, it is an agricultural product that travels thousands of miles to get to your cup. I knew in 2019 when I had the chance to travel to origin in Honduras, thanks to Ellen - Account Manager at Atomic Coffee, that my passion for coffee would be taken to the next level. When we had the opportunity to partner with Atomic Coffee, a north shore roaster who has direct relationships with farmers and freshly roasted coffee, it was a no brainer.
Consistency.Operating a brick and mortar, and it being a food based business at that, is a whole other animal. At Rise and Shine, we operate (mostly) 7 days a week with a small but incredibly mighty staff. While we do not have a large menu, we make our food with house made recipes. No frills, but quality delicious ingredients.
Community. This is the subject that has truly blown me away! Anyone who works in the cafe takes the time to get to know our customers. Growing families, doggos, new jobs, houses, and all the in between β we are there to congratulate you. We are also there with you through loss and challenging times. And this community in Wakefield has been incredibly reciprocal. Rise & Shine is for all of us.
An opportunity that once was only a dream and now is what keeps me up at night, in the best possible way :)
